At End of Day

Generally, if I find myself commencing a blog entry late in the evening...something is off. Or something is up. Something is something, for sure. The entire day was knocked off balance from the start. Shortly before awakening, I was planning a defensive shoot out in a barbershop. By the way, this "defensive" part is not even very clear. But when the bad guys went for their guns...and even that isn't clear...I opened fire and killed a surprising number. Thanks to my automatic pistol, if that is Read more [...]

Big To Do

How do you consider the wins and losses of this particular day? The body seems at the center. The main event, as it were, involved in the 20 meters of pathway between Jane's car and the front door to the Triple 0 Café, Half Moon Bay. I have not walked for a week. There is method in this neuromuscular madness. See earlier reports on the tendon. Yes, it is still sore. And my agreement with at least one of my physical medicine team was not to walk at all. Still, something in me could not resist. So Read more [...]

Little Me

"Loose Ends" reads the title of my brother's morning email. My first assumption, that he is bored and casting about for something to do, proves false. He is right on top of it, his life. No, what he's saying is that there are a few things that still need attention from his recent visit. That's all. The loose ends, or being at loose ends, are entirely my own. Sunday morning. A trip to San Francisco imminent, and after an all-day Caltrain experience, the chances are I will be tired. So what now? What Read more [...]

Work to Do

Languid. Summer, in effect, even if it is early May. An afternoon that seems mindless, even if it isn't. Jane and I doing nothing much of anything. Lunch seeming like a major effort. And the livin' is easy. Bit of news, of course. I see it going something like this, the first email: PAUL & JANE ARE GETTING MARRIED Save the date: 28 July 2013 (in San Francisco) Save the whales, while you're at it. Save yourself the trouble, if you live in the UK, because we're there for three weeks Read more [...]

Awakening

It's easy to drift into a nap, of an afternoon...and not easy. An excessive flutter of extroverted activity is enough to exhaust anyone, I always say. Particularly of the practical nature. My brother, not one to sit around, rose from his Seattle armchair the other day, declared his intention to drop in on me, and did so, with remarkable haste. Plunging me into practicalities, the very ones I am drowning in anyway, and clearly need help with. But now, with a human witness present, there is no escape. Read more [...]
